Baseball Recap: Youngker Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Youngker made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Kellis, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Roughriders never let the Cougars get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

David Molina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Enrique Cardenas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Riley Carteno, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Youngker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Youngker's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Kellis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Youngker will square off against Gila Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kellis, they will face off against Centennial at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
