Basketball Recap: Cathedral Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Cathedral suffered their closest loss since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Carmel Greyhounds by a score of 42-39. The Fighting Irish were probably out for revenge after losing 38-34 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cathedral's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caroline Wiggins, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and five blocks. Cathedral is 10-5 when Wiggins posts three or more blocks, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaeda Wilson, who scored 14 points.

Cathedral's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Carmel, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-11.

Cathedral didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-25 victory against Columbus East on the 30th. As for Carmel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-43 defeat against Ben Davis on the 31st.
