Softball Recap: Parkway Christian Has No Trouble Against Detroit Cristo Rey

Parkway Christian never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Detroit Cristo Rey on Saturday. They put the hurt on the WOLVES with a sharp 17-1 win. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Kayla Caruss made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hayden Baker was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Williams, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Parkway Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .900. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Parkway Christian's record now sits at 4-5. As for Detroit Cristo Rey, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Parkway Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-4 victory against Fitzgerald on the 3rd. Detroit Cristo Rey has also already played their next contest (against Cardinal Mooney Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
