Basketball Game Preview: Mallard Creek Mavericks vs. Hough Huskies

Mallard Creek has gone 9-1 against Hough recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mallard Creek Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hough Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mallard Creek is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Harding University: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mallard Creek blew Harding University out of the water with a 75-23 final score. With the Mavericks ahead 40-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Mallard Creek relied on the efforts of My?Asia Young, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Kiara Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. What's more, Young also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Mcguire, who posted eight points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Hough waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Lions 65-42. The Huskies pushed the score to 53-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Hough has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.8 points. As for Mallard Creek, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Everything came up roses for Mallard Creek against Hough when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 69-42 victory. Will Mallard Creek repeat their success, or does Hough have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
