Recap: Riverview East Academy Hawks vs. DePaul Cristo Rey
The Riverview East Academy Hawks posted their closest win yet this season on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over DePaul Cristo Rey. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Riverview East Academy also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, DePaul Cristo Rey had strong showings from Britain Starks, who scored 17 points, and Issa Koita, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Koita scored 15 or more points.
Riverview East Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview East Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Cincinnati Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. DePaul Cristo Rey won't have much time to rest: their next match is against School for Creative Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. School for Creative Performing Arts is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
