Softball Recap: Smoky Mountain's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Smoky Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Hayesville Yellowjackets on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ezilah Baylon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mica Tiger-Harlan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Smoky Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hayesville struck out ten times.

Smoky Mountain's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Hayesville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Smoky Mountain will challenge Murphy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hayesville, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-3 defeat against Hiwassee Dam on the 18th.
