Basketball Recap: Avery Ivey Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win + How To Watch

The Wheatmore Warriors got the win against the North Moore Mustangs on Tuesday by a conclusive 68-47. The Warriors pushed the score to 53-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wheatmore to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Ivey, who posted 28 points. Those 28 points gave Ivey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Starkey, who put up 13 points and seven assists.

Wheatmore was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Moore only posted three.

North Moore's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Pennington, who scored 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Stone, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 11 points.

Wheatmore's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatmore will take on Southwestern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Moore, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
