            Softball Preview: Walnut Grove Wildcats vs. Midway Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            A feisty cat fight will be fought as  the Wildcats  challenge  the Panthers at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Walnut Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5  runs per game  this season.
Walnut Grove was handed a heart-breaking two-run  loss in their last  game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Coppell  on Monday. Walnut Grove blew past Coppell 18-7. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three matchups by 11  runs or more  so far this season.
 Lyndsey Hooker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. That's the first time  she hasn't allowed a single  hit since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 3-for-5. What's more,  she also posted two  RBI, the most she's  had since back in May of 2024.

 In other batting news,  Lauren Robinson and  Kailee James did most of the damage at the plate:  Robinson  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base, while  James  went 3-for-5 with three  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI. Those two  doubles gave  Robinson a new career-high.  Micayla Wood also deserves some recognition as  she  scored her first  run of the season.
 Walnut Grove  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 16  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
 Meanwhile,  after soaring to 17  runs the game before, Midway was a bit more limited  in their  contest  on Monday. They fell just short of Melissa by a score of  1-0. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.
 Having lost for the first time  this season, Midway  fell to 3-1. As for Walnut Grove, their record now sits at 4-2.
