Basketball Game Preview: Dugger Union Bulldogs vs. Martinsville Bluestreaks

The Dugger Union Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Martinsville Bluestreaks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dugger Union is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-37, which was the final score in Dugger Union's tilt against Red Hill on Saturday.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elijah Eads, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Pearison, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Martinsville played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Dieterich, falling 72-38. While losing is never fun, the Bluestreaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while the Movin Maroons are ranked 180th).

This is the second loss in a row for Martinsville and nudges their season record down to 12-15. As for Dugger Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Dugger Union was taken down by Martinsville 66-35 in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can Dugger Union avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
