Softball Game Preview: Mineola Yellowjackets vs. Brownsboro Bears

The Mineola Yellowjackets will square off against the Brownsboro Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mineola's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They skirted past Pollok Central 1-0.

Mineola saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mahayla McMahon, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Brownsboro posted their biggest victory since April 13, 2024 on Saturday. They put the hurt on Chapel Hill with a sharp 10-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bears' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Aubree McKinney was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Arabella Lowrance also deserves some recognition as she hit her first hits of the season.

Brownsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chapel Hill only posted an OBP of .438.

Mineola's record is now 2-4. As for Brownsboro, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Mineola came out on top in a nail-biter against Brownsboro when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mineola since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
