Softball Recap: Deer Valley Wins Going Away Against Ygnacio Valley

Deer Valley won the last time they faced Ygnacio Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Deer Valley Wolverines blew past the Ygnacio Valley Wolves 22-1. The game marked the Wolverines' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Katalina Rogel made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Rogel was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Deer Valley got a massive performance out of Rosalyn Zermeno, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Zermeno a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Braelyn Valdez, who scored four runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Deer Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Deer Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ygnacio Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer Valley will square off against American at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Deer Valley is facing American at the right time seeing as American is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ygnacio Valley, they will face off against Campolindo at 4:30 p.m. on March 26th.
