Softball Recap: Highland Springs Find Success

Highland Springs's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Maggie Walker 16-15. The Springers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Maggie Walker, too.

Samantha Gathright was incredible, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tiyah McFail, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Highland Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Highland Springs' win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Maggie Walker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Highland Springs didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-5 victory against Armstrong on the 2nd. As for Maggie Walker, they have also already played their next contest, a 19-5 loss against J.R. Tucker on the 6th.
