Softball Recap: Nelson Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Nelson had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Sandy on Friday. Nelson was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Sandy. The result was nothing new for Nelson, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bailey Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Abigail Huspek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Hazel, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Nelson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Nelson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Sandy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.
