Softball Game Preview: Wheeling Park Patriots vs. John Marshall Monarchs

Wheeling Park hasn't had much luck against John Marshall recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Patriots will face off against the Monarchs at 5:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wheeling Park heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Morgantown by a score of 3-2.

Wheeling Park saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Tipton, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, John Marshall fell victim to Wheeling Park and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 6-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Monarchs' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

John Marshall has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Wheeling Park, their loss dropped their record down to 13-15.

Wheeling Park took their win against John Marshall in their previous meeting on Monday by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
