Basketball Recap: Tyler Elliott and Brody Vaughn Secure Win for Iola

After losing to Burton the last time they met, Iola decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Iola Bulldogs enjoyed a cozy 67-52 win over the Burton Panthers on Tuesday.

Leading Iola to victory were Brody Vaughn and Tyler EllioTT. Vaughn went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points and five steals, while Elliott went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Elliott is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Goodney, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Iola's record is now 6-7. As for Burton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iola will face off against Snook at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Iola knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Snook likes a good challenge. As for Burton, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Burton Panthers duke it out with the Bremond Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
