Baseball Recap: La Canada Triumphs

La Canada proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 12) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Pasadena Bulldogs 5-3. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Fritz Phillips looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. La Canada is 4-2 when Phillips allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Will Park was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for La Canada: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Benji Geller was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

La Canada now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Pasadena, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

La Canada wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-0 victory against South Pasadena on the 7th. As for Pasadena, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against La Salle on the 8th.
