Basketball Recap: Riverside's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against Madison last Friday, Riverside came back down to earth. The Riverside Chargers fell to the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack 60-56. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-62 on December 5th.

Despite the loss, Riverside still got an impressive performance from Dane Schalk, who posted 29 points. The dominant performance gave Schalk a new career-high in points. Jack Molt was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Riverside moved to 3-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Elgin/Pope John, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heartland at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Elgin/Pope John, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Creighton at 7:00 p.m.
