Softball Preview: Paint Valley Bearcats vs. North Adams Green Devils
The Paint Valley Bearcats will face off against the North Adams Green Devils at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Paint Valley has four straight victories, North Adams has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Paint Valley got the win against Western by a conclusive 17-2.
Kasarah Cantrell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Cantrell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lydia Hamilton was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kyla Littler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Paint Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .182.
Meanwhile, North Adams didn't have quite enough to beat Lynchburg-Clay on Tuesday and fell 8-7.
Like Paint Valley, North Adams also got a great game from a two-way player: Carlee Garrison. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Garrison has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
Garrison wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paige Evans, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Karis Tumbleson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
North Adams' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Paint Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
