Baseball Recap: Nooksack Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Nooksack Valley's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Sedro-Woolley Cubs by a score of 7-4. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cubs, too.

Evan Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Nooksack Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Colby Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Dylan Reimer also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Nooksack Valley's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for Sedro-Woolley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nooksack Valley will challenge Sehome at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sedro-Woolley, they will square off against Mt. Baker at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cubs are facing the Mountaineers at the right time seeing as the Mountaineers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
