After a string of ten wins, Templeton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Orcutt Academy Spartans by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Tegan Jay was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Templeton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Fiorenza, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Templeton's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Orcutt Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10-1 record this season.
