Basketball Game Preview: Africentric Early College Nubians vs. Fredericktown Freddies

The Africentric Early College Nubians will take on the Fredericktown Freddies at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Africentric Early College is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They secured a 36-30 W over Fairbanks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Nubians.

Meanwhile, Fredericktown had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with a 40-20 victory. That's two games straight that the Freddies have won by exactly 20 points.

Africentric Early College better focus on containing Mya Bryant and Cally Carpenter as the pair were huge in Fredericktown's win. Bryant dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards, while Carpenter posted 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most rebounds Bryant has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gracyn Toombs, who scored six points.

Fredericktown was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only four assists.

Fredericktown's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points over those games. As for Africentric Early College, their record now sits at 17-7.

Everything came up roses for Africentric Early College against Fredericktown in their previous meeting back in February of 2019, as the squad secured an 86-7 victory.
