Baseball Game Preview: Rainier Columbians vs. Horizon Christian Hawks

Rainier hasn't had much luck against Horizon Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Columbians will square off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rainier is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Neah-Kah-Nie on Wednesday.

Rainier let Matthew Chambers and Easton Marsh run wild. Chambers scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Marsh scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was Chambers' first of the season.

Rainier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Horizon Christian beat Valley Catholic 8-3 on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Hawks' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Horizon Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Rainier, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Rainier came up short against Horizon Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Columbians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
