Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) grabbed the lead when it ran for a touchdown with 3:00 to go in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.) 52-41 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured six lead swaps.
The Rebels led 17-7 at halftime, but the Cavaliers recaptured the lead on a touchdown run by
Trey Robinson with 6:00 to go in the third.
By the end of the third, Byrnes found itself trailing by 3 points as Dorman captured the lead thanks to four scores in the quarter. DHS scored on a touchdown run, a kick return, a touchdown run by Robinson and a
Michael Nze touchdown run in the quarter.
The Roebuck school's Robinson played well. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
The Cavaliers came in giving up 13.8 points per game this season. Dorman struggled against BHS's offense, which entered the game scoring 38.7 points per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Duncan school came away with a 31-10 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Dorman, which notched a 24-21 victory over Boiling Springs in its previous outing.
Dorman (7-3) will play a non-conference game against Riverside next week, while Byrnes (9-1) will take on Wade Hampton in a AAAA Region II game.
