Chino Hills (Calif.) has everyone amazed by its high-octane attack. But where does the nation's top team rank on the list?
Video: Chino Hills one win away from perfect seasonPace and space. Small ball. Motion offense.
Whatever you want to call it, basketball teams seem to be scoring more points than ever before. We see it in the NBA with Steph Curry and the Warriors, and the NCAA has even shortened the shot clock to encourage more scoring.
It trickles down to the high school level as well — teams in the 2015-16 season put up some astronomical point totals. We got curious, and decided to take a look at the highest scoring high school boys basketball teams this season.
To compile the list, we searched the MaxPreps database for the highest point totals of the season (single game, single team — not combined). In order for a game to qualify, both teams must have MaxPreps team pages and the game score must be entered into MaxPreps.
Some interesting notes:- The No. 1 team in the country, Chino Hills — known for
its unorthodox high-octane offense — doesn't show up until the
seventh spot (the Huskies play in the California title game on Saturday
night, one last chance to move up).
- Athlos Leadership Academy appears on the list on both the winning AND losing side.
- Chino Hills and Horizon Christian Academy are the only teams to appear multiple times on the winning side of the list.
- Texas and California lead the way with four teams apiece.
*Note: Depending on states and classifications, some games may be longer than the standard 32 minutes.Highest Single-Game Point Totals in 2015-16
