Basketball Recap: Jefferson Academy Piles Up the Points Against Prospect Ridge Academy

Jefferson Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners 44-15. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.

Jefferson Academy was led to victory by Rylin Chichirico and Avah Berlin. Chichirico posted eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Berlin went 5-for-9 on her way to 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. That's the most points Berlin has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shalini Mathai, who put up seven points.

Jefferson Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prospect Ridge Academy only posted two assists.

When it comes to explaining why Prospect Ridge Academy lost, don't look at Kayah Robbins. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with ten points and 16 boards. That was a full 66.7% of Prospect Ridge Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row Robbins has scored more than a third of the team's points. Payton Huffman also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Jefferson Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Jefferson Academy has already played their next contest, a 41-26 win against Forge Christian on the 18th. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 67-30 defeat against Denver Christian on the 18th.
