Basketball Game Preview: Swallows Charter Academy Spartans vs. Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers

The Swallows Charter Academy Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swallows Charter Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Swallows Charter Academy strolled past Trinidad with points to spare, taking the game 59-41. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Swallows Charter Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Garcia, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards. That's the most rebounds Garcia has posted since back in February of 2024. Charles Perry was another key player, going 8-for-16 to rack up 22 points.

Swallows Charter Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Cripple Creek-Victor played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Lotus School For Excellence, falling 83-13. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Meteors are ranked 160th).

Swallows Charter Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Swallows Charter Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Cripple Creek-Victor when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 60-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Cripple Creek-Victor's Myles Durham, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 22 points. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Swallows Charter Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
