Basketball Game Preview: Howell Vikings vs. Webster Groves Statesmen

The Howell Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Webster Groves Statesmen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Howell comes in on three and Webster Groves on five.

Last Friday, Howell strolled past Howell North with points to spare, taking the game 76-62. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Knights are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Webster Groves posted their closest victory since December 29, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitney Young, sneaking past 71-68.

Webster Groves pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points over those games. As for Howell, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Howell came up short against Webster Groves in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 57-47. Can Howell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
