Volleyball Recap: Neuse Charter Starts Season with Win at Home

Neuse Charter gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Neuse Charter walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-20.

Layla Johnson paced Neuse Charter's offense, picking up 13 kills. Johnson got some help from Lily Temple and her 11 assists. Sloane Smith controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Neuse Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they will head out to challenge South Garner at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
