Basketball Preview: Lakeview Bulldogs vs. Howland Tigers
After two games on the road, Lakeview is heading back home. They will take on the Howland Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 665th, while the Tigers are ranked 57th).
Last Thursday, Lakeview came up short against the Wildcats and fell 53-40.
Lakeview's loss came about despite a quality game from Makenna Werner, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Haynie, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Howland sidestepped the Spartans for a 54-52 victory.
Howland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Massucci, who scored 18 points. Maya Kubancsek was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Lakeview has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Howland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
