Basketball Recap: Kermit Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Alpine came into Friday's game looking for another win against Kermit, but Ebbin Mallory wouldn't allow it. The Kermit Yellow Jackets blew past the Alpine Bucks 54-34 on Friday thanks in part to Mallory, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. She has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Leylani Quiroz, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the defeat, Alpine saw an underclassman step up: freshman Andynne Ramirez had 14 points. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Smith, who put up seven points.

Kermit is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 21.7 points. As for Alpine, they dropped their record down to 9-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Kermit didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-9 win against Anthony on the 7th. As for Alpine, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-33 victory against Buena Vista on the 7th.
