Baseball Recap: Edmonds-Woodway Wins Going Away Against Meadowdale

Edmonds-Woodway never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Meadowdale on Friday. They put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Warriors have beaten the Mavericks the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mavericks has come to flipping the script.

Lukas Wanke made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Edmonds-Woodway let Josh Akiyama and Andreas Simonsen run wild. Akiyama scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Simonsen scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Simonsen a new career-high in RBI (three). Erik Alsdorf also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Edmonds-Woodway's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Meadowdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Edmonds-Woodway will have a chance to go back-to-back against Meadowdale: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
