Braylin Boruff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emmy Nottingham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Julia Hoffman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Triton Central posted their closest win since April 16, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Greenwood 4-2.
Triton Central's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brylie Couch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Triton Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive matches.
Triton Central pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Covenant Christian, their record is now 13-10.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Covenant Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Triton Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Covenant Christian couldn't quite get it done against Triton Central when the teams last played back in May of 2022 as they fell 10-5. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
