Baseball Recap: Nucla Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Nucla had won six straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 10-8 to make it seven. They had just enough and edged out the Dove Creek Bulldogs 12-11. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Josh Platt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Nucla's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Bray, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Nucla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Dove Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), they still had to take the loss.

On Dove Creek's side, Trevan Ivie stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sheldon Gardner, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

As of now, neither Nucla nor Dove Creek have any future games scheduled.
