Basketball Recap: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Millard West Wildcats
Bellevue East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Millard West Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chieftains of the 58-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Loss or not, Bellevue East got some senior leadership from Kris Brown and Isaac Gore. Brown went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds, while Gore dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. That was a full 40.8% of Bellevue East's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Jones, who had five points.
Bellevue East's record now sits at 0-4. As for Millard West, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Bellevue East will take on Lewis Central in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Millard West will take on Omaha Westside in a holiday battle at on Thursday. Omaha Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Millard West likes a good challenge.
