Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southside). They were the clear victors by a 56-31 margin over the Lytle Pirates on Friday. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Southside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Graciela Galvan, who shot 55% from the field en route to 15 points and four steals. Galvan has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Alisson Gonzalez was another key player, going 5-for-7 on her way to 15 points.

Southside was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Lytle's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aliana Cardenas, who posted six points.

The victory was the third in a row for Southside, bringing their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points on average over those games. As for Lytle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Southside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 36-31 loss against Highlands on the 21st. As for Lytle, they have also already played their next game, a 48-30 defeat against Devine on the 21st.
