Softball Game Preview: St. James Wildcats vs. Riverside Academy Rebels

St. James hasn't had much luck against Riverside Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The St. James Wildcats will take on the Riverside Academy Rebels at 5:00 p.m. St. James has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

St. James is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Covenant Christian Academy, falling 22-8.

Meanwhile, Riverside Academy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Tigers.

Riverside Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. James, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

St. James suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Riverside Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can St. James avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
