Softball Recap: Tidewater Academy Warriors vs. Fuqua Falcons
Tidewater Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the Fuqua Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.
As for Fuqua, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Fuqua's part, Rebekah Call was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Call's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kenna Schmidt, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Looking ahead, Tidewater Academy will square off against Southampton Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Fuqua, they will face off against Amelia Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
