Basketball Recap: Parkwood Takes a Loss

After soaring to 66 points the game before, Parkwood was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They were beaten by the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets 57-24. While losing is never fun, the Wolf Pack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 120th).

Forest Hills was led to victory by Layla Rushing and Leyah Melton. Rushing dropped a triple-double with 19 points, 12 boards, and ten steals, while Melton went 7-for-16 en route to 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Melton's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalila Rorie, who posted ten points.

Parkwood now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Forest Hills, they pushed their record up to 23-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkwood will challenge West Henderson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Forest Hills, they will square off against West Stanly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
