Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Penn Wood

On Saturday, the Penn Wood Patriots were able to grind out a solid victory over the Great Valley Patriots, taking the game 69-60. The win was all the more spectacular given Penn Wood's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Great Valley is ranked 67th).

Penn Wood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Great Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

When Penn Wood and Great Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Penn Wood will try to stop Conwell-Egan Catholic's four-game winning streak when the meet at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Great Valley will take on Conestoga and their four-game winning streak at 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
