Football Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Athens can now relate to. They were beaten by the Brown County Hornets 48-0 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Hornets are ranked 95th).

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Brown County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brown County, they will head out on the road to challenge Camp Point Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hornets 7.7, the Panthers 3.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
