Volleyball Recap: Montgomery Starts Season with Victory at Home

Montgomery gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Port Neches-Groves Indians with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Montgomery took every set by at least 25 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.

Montgomery had a senior duo take command as Ava Collins had 30 assists and six digs and Kennedy Marriott had 14 digs and two aces. Collins has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 20 times she's played.

Coincidentally, Montgomery and Port Neches-Groves will both be playing Willis the next time they take the court. The Indians will host the Wildkats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Bears will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
