Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Takes a Loss

If Pine Crest was feeling good fresh off their 22-15 takedown of Calvary Christian Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pine Crest Panthers fell just short of the North Broward Prep Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pine Crest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Marber, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. The dominant performance gave Marber a new career-high in hits.

With the loss, Pine Crest broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for North Broward Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Pine Crest and North Broward Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pine Crest (ranked 34th) will meet Fort Lauderdale (ranked 475th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Crest is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, North Broward Prep will challenge Boca Raton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday up 361 places (30 vs. 391). Pine Crest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
