Volleyball Recap: Smethport's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past + How To Watch

Smethport's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Galeton Tigers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hubbers as it put an end to their five-match losing streak.

Smethport walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-14, 25-19, 25-19.

Leading Smethport to victory were Jenna Goodman and Kaylin Ruffner. Goodman had four digs and two aces, while Ruffner had 12 digs. That's the most digs Ruffner has posted since back in September. Macy Smith also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Smethport picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-12. As for Galeton, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Smethport and Galeton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Hubbers (ranked 450th) will meet Elk County Catholic (ranked 100th) at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Galeton will take on Williamson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (472 vs. 162).
