WPIAL AA Allegheny Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Epps Made His Presence Known in South Allegheny's 56-22 Win

Starting off the list is South Allegheny's Cameron Epps, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Epps rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.

Shady Side Academy's probably not too fond of Epps given he always seems to get the better of them. Epps rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Bulldogs duked it out back in September of 2023.

Ligonier Valley Gets a Boost from Jablunovsky in 20-14 Victory

John Jablunovsky was a major factor in Ligonier Valley's win over Charleroi on Friday. Jablunovsky did his part (and then some), rushing for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry for the 'W'. He is becoming a predictor of Ligonier Valley's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

Ligonier Valley's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. Jablunovsky and Ligonier Valley will square off against South Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Camden Lewis Makes It Two for South Allegheny

The second South Allegheny player making an appearance here is Camden Lewis, and for good reason. He picked up 86 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 49 yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 11 total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.

On the season, Lewis has caught 4 touchdowns while averaging 46.3 receiving yards per game.

Steel Valley Wins Third-Straight Thanks to Donald Barksdale

Donald Barksdale was instrumental in extending Steel Valley's winning streak to three on Friday. Apollo Ridge had no answer to Barksdale as he rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Barksdale really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.

Barksdale must have Apollo Ridge's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Barksdale last faced the Vikings back in September of 2023, he rushed for 202 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry.
