Baseball Recap: Cumberland Gap Has No Trouble Against Hancock County

There's no place like home for Cumberland Gap, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past the Hancock County Indians 11-1 on Thursday. The match marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.

George Capps looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hunter Gibson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Murphy, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Cumberland Gap always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Cumberland Gap's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Hancock County, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Cumberland Gap will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hancock County: the pair will be back at it again later today.
