Bald Eagle Area hasn't had much luck against Bellefonte recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Friday, Bald Eagle Area sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Richland. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kaleb Irion spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Bald Eagle Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Graysen White, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Bellefonte sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over Central Cambria on Friday.
Carsen Henry tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Mattern, who got on base in five of his seven plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Braeden Fortney was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Bellefonte's record is now 8-1. As for Bald Eagle Area, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Bald Eagle Area couldn't quite get it done against Bellefonte in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
