Softball Recap: Carson Beats Mira Costa for Their 16th Straight Win

Carson put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Mira Costa Mustangs with a sharp 9-3 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Colts also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

Carson got a great performance from Isabella Campos as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave Campos a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Rylee Gardner and Kiarah Chukwudi did most of the damage at the plate: Gardner scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Chukwudi scored a run while going 2-for-3. Gardner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Ruby Grajeda was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Carson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Carson's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Mira Costa, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, Carson will take on Bingham in a tournament on Thursday. As for Mira Costa, they will square off against Redondo Union at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Redondo Union is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
