Wes-Del hasn't had much luck against Shenandoah recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Wes-Del is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Wes-Del came up short against Eastern Hancock on Monday, falling 8-2. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wes-Del saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailee West, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Shenandoah waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 10-0 shutout. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by ten runs or more this season.
Olivia Watson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Gabrielle Patrick was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aleyna Sharritts, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.
Shenandoah's record now sits at 14-3. As for Wes-Del, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wes-Del hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Shenandoah struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wes-Del suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Shenandoah in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
