Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Franklin-Simpson

Franklin-Simpson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They beat the Russellville Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brady Delk was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Franklin-Simpson: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 8-9 otherwise. Delk was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jaxon Gass was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Layne Alford, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Franklin-Simpson's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Russellville, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their 24th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Franklin-Simpson will host Warren East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Russellville, they will head out to take on Butler County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
