Baseball Recap: White County Takes a Loss

White County had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it 14. They lost 11-1 to the Cookeville Cavaliers. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

White County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Pionke, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Cookeville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Cookeville's side, Sam Snyder tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Snyder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ty Harrison, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Owen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

White County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-3 defeat against Livingston Academy on the 14th. As for Cookeville, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-4 win against Rockvale on the 12th.
